Following the brief teaser trailers we saw late last year, the first full promo for Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman’s Ghost Stories has landed. Based on their sinfully scary stage show of the same name, Dyson and Nyman co-write and direct the film version that is already receiving an array of acclaim.

I won’t spoil anything for those of you that haven’t seen the stage show, but the film adaptation keeps things mostly the same with Nyman starring as Professor Philip Goodman, a renowned ghost debunker he applies rationality and logic to explain the unexplainable. However, his faith in science and the world he knows his tested when he receives a message from his long-dead mentor.

While attempting to get to the bottom of what he believes is a hoax, Goodman meets three people with a shocking tale of terror that will help him on his quest. Joining Andy Nyman are, Paul Whitehouse, Alex Lawther (Black Mirror, The End of the Fucking World), Nicholas Burns, and Martin Freeman.

Jeremy Dyson recently reunited with Mark Gatiss, Reece Shearsmith, and Steve Pemberton for a marvellous revival of The League of Gentlemen. Fingers crossed another revival won’t take thirteen years to happen.

Ghost Stories is released in the UK on April 13.

Phillip Goodman, professor of psychology, arch-skeptic, the one-man ‘belief buster’ – has his rationality tested to the hilt when he receives a letter apparently from beyond the grave. His mentor Charles Cameron, the ‘original’ TV parapsychologist went missing fifteen years before, presumed dead and yet now he writes to Goodman saying that the pair must meet. Cameron, it seems, is still very much alive. And he needs Goodman to find a rational explanation for three stories that have shaken Cameron to his core. As Goodman investigates, he meets three haunted people, each with a tale more frightening, uncanny and inexplicable than the last.
