While it might be hard to fathom that seven years have passed since Rowan Atkinson first returned as the bumbling spy Johnny English, it’s even more difficult to accept that a third movie is mere months away from release.
That’s right folks, Johnny English Strikes Again is a real thing and not an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank. Atkinson returns as the infamous oaf who is coaxed out of retirement when a cyber-attack unmasks the identities of every undercover spy in England. Reunited with his former assistant Angus Bough (Ben Miller), English must use all his haphazard skills to save the day.
Considering that both Johnny English movies generated $160 million globally apiece, a third entry in the franchise was a given. The long gaps in between sequels haven’t done the franchise any harm, so don’t be surprised when Johnny English 4 arrives sometime in 2025.
Joining Atkinson and Ben Miller are Olga Kurylenko, and Emma Thompson who will star as the UK Prime Minister. Johnny English Strikes Again trips into cinemas on October 12.
JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN is the third instalment of the Johnny English comedy series, with Rowan Atkinson returning as the much loved accidental secret agent. The new adventure begins when a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all active undercover agents in Britain, leaving Johnny English as the secret service’s last hope. Called out of retirement, English dives head first into action with the mission to find the mastermind hacker. As a man with few skills and analogue methods, Johnny English must overcome the challenges of modern technology to make this mission a success.
