There are just a couple of months to go before Avengers Endgame arrives in cinemas worldwide. Having released a trailer that didn’t reveal much, and a Super Bowl Spot that showcased some new footage that told us nothing, the synopsis for Endgame has landed. Brace yourself for information overload;
“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.”
Okay, I might have over exaggerated that information overload statement as there isn’t any real information on offer here, and I love it! Knowing so little is how movie studios should be marketing their tentpole releases, give us a taste with a trailer and TV spot, but we don’t need four trailers that shows us too much before we hand over our hard earned cash (or unlimited cards). Marvel knows it doesn’t need to oversell Endgame; it is the culmination of more than a decade’s work and 22 movies, we’re in already!
Reports recently surfaced that Endgame will have a three hour running time, and Disney is exploring adding an old fashioned intermission to selected cinemas. I don’t think the intermission is needed as we’ve had longer films without one, if I’m being honest I think it’s a play from cinema chains to sell more snacks as they can’t fit in as many showings if it’s three hours. That said, I’m a cynical S.O.B, so maybe I’m wrong. After all, it’s not like Disney have built an empire selling overpriced confectionary and merchandise.
Avengers Endgame is released in the UK on April 25th.
