Now that the release of Avengers Endgame is mere weeks away, Marvel has unleashed the second trailer for the most anticipated movie of the year. The new promo gives us a lot more footage than the previous teaser, we have Avengers in matching outfits, Scott Lang, a closer look at Hawkeye’s new haircut, and a neat moment between Thor and Captain Marvel.
Beyond that, plot details are still unclear beyond the remaining Avengers attempt to undo Thanos’ handy work that left half of all life reduced to ashes. Every major studio needs to approach their tentpole releases like an Avengers sequel, give fans enough to be interested rather than four trailers that show us far too much before we’ve bought a ticket. Marvel knows only too well that at this stage, Endgame sells itself, and this is expected to break a plethora of box office records.
Marvel has been keeping its future plans beyond Spider-Man Far From Home under wraps. We know that many of the original Avengers won’t be returning after Endgame as their contracts are up, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s the end for all of them. A Black Widow solo movie is finally on the fast track, and there are sequels to Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange in development. Captain Marvel is expected to become the new centre of the MCU going forward, and the massive opening for her debut only strengthens that rumour.
The main cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, and Josh Brolin. Not to mention appearances from everybody who was left as a pile of dust at the end of Infinity War. The running time has yet to be confirmed, but indications from Marvel hint at more than three hours, which is just fine with me.
Avengers Endgame is released in the UK on April 25.
A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.
