The fifth season of Charlie Brooker’s anthology series is landing on Netflix soon, and here’s the first trailer to prove it! Black Mirror returned to Netflix late last year with the audacious interactive movie Bandersnatch; many fans fell down the rabbit hole with the ambitious feature-length episode, others were a little disappointed not to get a full season.
Well, prepare for more mild disappointment, since Black Mirror leapt Channel 4 to Netflix, each season has consisted of six episodes. An upgrade from its Channel 4 days of three episodes, but now Netflix is reverting back to that format as season five is just three episodes. As we know, it’s quality, not quantity that counts, so here’s hoping it’s all killer no filler.
Starring Anthony Mackie, Andrew Scott, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport, Ludi Lin, and Miley Cyrus, Black Mirror’s fifth season arrives on Netflix on June 5.
Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us. The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones.
