Ash vs Evil Dead Trailer

Ash-v-evil-dead

Prepare to feel groovy and not in an Austin Powers way but in a slicing the undead to pieces kind of way. The first full trailer for Ash vs Evil Dead has arrived, and there is every reason to excited about Bruce Campbell returning to fight the horrors of Necronomicon Ex-Mortis.

It has been almost 35 years since we Sam Raimi first introduced us to the world of the Evil Dead, a true grassroots piece of filmmaking the project was a labour of love for everybody involved. A third sequel seemed unlikely when Raimi and co produced a gruesome reboot that contained none of the charm of the original trilogy. Aside from a pointless cameo from Campbell right at the end, it seemed as though we would never see Ash fight the Evil Dead again. Thank goodness for Starz!

The series launches this Halloween and I’m remaining confident for a season two announcement shortly after.

The 10-episode first season of the half-hour series is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell, the original filmmakers of the franchise, and Craig DiGregorio who serves as executive producer and showrunner. “Ash vs Evil Dead,” which is currently in production in New Zealand, is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead.

Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
