Halloween Bitesize Treats: Goodnight Short Film

We’re officially in the run-up to Halloween, and to celebrate we’re digging through the internet to find some short film gems to put the frighteners on you from the comfort of your own home. To kick things off, Diane Michelle’s sinfully creepy Goodnight is here to steal your sleep and haunt your dreams.

We’re all had bad dreams as a result of what some would call an irrational fear of what’s in the cupboard, or what lurks under the bed. In this case, it’s a man named Billy. When I was growing up, it was always doors being left open, be it the bedroom door or a cupboard. If that door was open, then it was an active gateway to hell as far as my young mind was concerned. Owing to a rather cruel prank played on me by my older brother, doors have to be closed to this day.

Aside from my deep-rooted fear of doors, Diane Michelle’s short is beautifully shot, powerful, and is dripping with tension and unease. I would like to think my taste in horror has matured as I’ve gotten older. Sure, I love a good gory horror from time to time, but give me a well-made film like The Conjuring, A Quiet Place, It Follows, or The Witch, and I’m on the edge of my seat. Goodnight is a well made little horror that is well worth your time and I hope we see more of Diane Michelle’s work in the future. For more great short horrors, you’ll be spoilt for choice on the Crypt TV youtube channel.

As we’re talking about a short film, you’ll find no spoilers here, and like all horrors it’s best enjoyed in the dark with headphones on.
