Official Suicide Squad Trailer Is No Joke

Following its debut at Comic-Con and a shoddy pirate copy doing the rounds, the first official trailer for Suicide Squad has arrived online. Directed by David Ayer, the movie centres on a group of supervillains who are drafted in by the government to go on highly dangerous missions. If they can save the world (and not kill each other in the process), then they get a clean slate for all their troubles.

“I’m not going to kill you. I’m just going to hurt you really, really bad.”

The cast of Suicide Squad includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang with Jared Leto as the Joker and little cameo for Ben Affleck’s Batman.

I’ll be honest, I enjoyed this trailer much more than I thought and found it more tantalising than the new Dawn of Justice promo. There’s a hint of Leto as The Joker, a glimpse of Batman in pursuit, and a moody yet cheeky tone I’m actually digging.

There is still more than a year to wait to see the finished movie, but this first look trailer is a reassuring three minutes that suggests Suicide Squad could be something very different. The trailer wasn’t intended to be released to the public so soon, but owing to the leaked version Warner Bros issued a statement before uploading a high-resolution version.

Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the Suicide Squad footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation.
