Daredevil Season 3 Unleashes Dark New Trailer

The following article contains mild spoilers for Defenders.

Darkness only responds to darkness, and excellently choreographed corridor fight scenes.

We might have seen Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Netflix’s team-up Defenders last summer, but the much-hyped event series didn’t really leave the desired impact. It has been over two and a half years since Daredevil’s second season hit Netflix (yes, really), and things are looking decidedly bleak for the residents of Hell’s Kitchen.

The fallout of the Defenders finale left Matt in pretty bad shape, and while he might be back on his feet, he’s a broken man inside. Drawing some inspiration from Frank Miller’s Born Again story arc that ran for a few issues back in the 80s (and rereleased as a graphic novel), season three promises to be the darkest chapter to date. As if recovering from nearly dying wasn’t taking enough, Matt has to contend with an imposter who is giving his alter-ego a bad name.

Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez stepped down as co-showrunners to work on Defenders, so Arrow’s Erik Oleson was drafted in the lead Daredevil’s third run. After just a fleeting appearance in the second season, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk (aka Kingpin) is back on the outside causing all sorts of mayhem with his schemes. There has been plenty of chatter regarding Bullseye being the big bad, but aside from a few teases, there’s no confirmation from Netflix.

Also starring Deborah Ann Woll, Jay Ali, Annabella Sciorra, and Elden Henson, all thirteen episodes of Daredevil’s third season will be available for binge or sensible watching on October 19.

Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world, or embracing his destiny as a hero.
