The fantastically unnerving Channel Zero Season One (aka Candle Cove) arrives on DVD just in time for Halloween. Based on the Creepypasta (which isn’t a fun tomato sauce based tinned pasta for kids but a horror story that’s been copy-and-pasted around the internet), Channel Zero is one of the most promising new horror anthologies on TV.
Child psychologist Mike Painter is growing increasingly suspicious that children’s TV show Candle Cove may have played a role in a series of nightmarish events from his childhood, including the disappearance of his twin brother in the summer of 1988. When Mike returns home to investigate what happened all those years ago, he soon discovers that whatever caused the horror before, may be happening
While I won’t spoil anything for those who haven’t seen it, there is a creature made entirely out of teeth, and it’s one of the most gloriously disturbing things I’ve seen on television in quite some time. Well, apart from the news or that odd TV show that has an orange potato covered in fluff that’s seems to be on all the time. Featuring a cast the includes Paul Schneider (Parks and Recreation), Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter), and Natalie Brown (The Strain), Channel Zero: Candle Cove is yours to own on DVD and Blu-ray on October 30th.
The good news is that season two is currently airing on Syfy, and two further runs have already been ordered.
