The first trailer for Elizabeth Banks’ (Pitch Perfect 2) horror comedy has arrived, and Cocaine Bear is a movie that does what it says on the tin. Based on the true story of a bear that went on a rampage after getting stuck into a plane load of drug runners’ cocaine. That’s all the information you need before deciding if this movie is for you; I was on board as soon as I heard the title.

Leaning into the comedy as much as the grizzly attacks, this is one based on a true story film that isn’t gunning for Academy Awards; they’re going for gasps, gasps I say! Nobody could accuse Elizabeth Banks of making safe choices for her directorial work; after Pitch Perfect 2, she made Charlie’s Angels, attached to a new take on the Invisible Woman, and now Cocaine Bear. Featuring one of the final performances from the legendary Ray Liotta, Cocaine Bear looks like a great Friday Night movie.
