Well, this is awkward, David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino have each managed to cast the same actor to play Charles Manson in their upcoming projects. Quentin Tarantino’s star-studded Once Upon A Time in Hollywood recently announced that Damon Herriman (Justified) had landed the role as the infamous serial killer Charles Manson. No sooner was that news was made public it was revealed that Damon Herriman has already completed his scenes for the second season of David Fincher’s Mindhunter as, wait for it, Charles Manson.
Damon Herriman hasn’t started working with Tarantino on Once Upon A Time In Hollywood yet, and it’s believed his role in Mindhunter is only a small supporting appearance. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is set in 1969, and Mindhunter will likely take place somewhere between 1979 and 1981, so Herriman gets to explore two different time periods in Manson’s life.
Mindhunter is currently filming its second season and is expected to arrive on Netflix early next year. Sadly, there will only be eight episodes this time around, but that just makes the prospect of binge-watching the whole shebang in one glorious sitting all the more appealing.
Meanwhile, Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’s cast keeps getting more impressive which each passing day. Joining Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt are Margot Robbie, Al Pacino, Burt Reynolds, Timothy Olyphant, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, Emile Hirsch, Damian Lewis, Michael Madsen, Dakota Fanning, Luke Perry, and Lena Dunham. I’m sure we can expect a few more names to be added in the coming weeks as production rolls onwards.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is due for release on July 26, 2019.
