The first full trailer for the eighth entry in the Fast and Furious franchise has arrived, and it’s exactly what you didn’t know you needed in your life right now.
Now that Brian O’Connor has retired from the gang, Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) are off on their honeymoon and life seems to have slowed down for the rest of the furious team. However, Dom finds himself lured back into the criminal underworld by Cypher (Charlize Theron) and he seemingly turns on his extended family for reasons unknown. Now it’s up to Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) to enlist the help of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) and lead the Furious gang in their most insane mission to date.
I’m not going to try and justify the latest bad shit crazy plot for a Fast and Furious sequel, we’re not expecting gritty realism and logic, hell I don’t even care that huge portions of previous movies make zero sense. All we want from a Fast and Furious movie is crazy stunts, globetrotting antics and relentless action, on those counts the first trailer more than delivers.
After being reduced to an extended cameo in Furious 7, Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs is taking a more central role in the new movie and that’s just fine with us, On a side note, the title for a Fast sequel is once again going to differ internationally. American audiences will be sitting down to watch something called The Fate of the Furious (F8 hilarious), while us more sensible Brits will be tucking into our store bought popcorn to Fast & Furious 8.
Also starring Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Scott Eastwood, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham, with Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron, Fast and Furious 8 drives into UK cinemas on April 14, 2017.
Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.
