The final trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 ups the action and body count in an attempt to get you to part with your hard earned money. The first teasers didn’t exactly grab my attention and I’m still struggling to see the point in rebooting a failed action franchise as I utterly loathed the previous movie incarnation of the popular game franchise. I say that as an avid fan of the awesome games who spent many hours enjoying (more than he should) killing his way through the criminal underworld. There’s a great idea for a movie in the Hitman franchise, I just don’t think Agent 47 is the going to be the one to find it.
Despite my well found misgivings over the movie reboot, the latest trailer does suggest a supremely entertaining Friday night post pub movie. As far as I’m concerned, anything that has Zachary Quinto as the bad guy, I’m interested in seeing. Starring Rupert Friend as the titular assassin, Hitman Agent 47 arrives in UK cinemas on August 27th.
HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research – and forty-six earlier Agent clones — endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.
