First Trailer For Blumhouse Anthology Series Into The Dark

According to this first teaser trailer for Hulu’s Into The Dark, the only thing we have to fear is absolutely bloody everything. Produced by Jason Blum (Purge, Get Out) and Alexa Faigen, Into The Dark might look like yet another star-studded anthology horror series, but there’s a twist.

Each episode will focus on a different holiday or special day on the calendar with Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, April Fool’s all getting the horror makeover treatment. No word yet on if Festivus will feature, perhaps that’s already terrifying enough.

Unlike most TV shows released online or otherwise, Into The Dark will debut new episodes every month for an entire year. That’s right, all twelve tales of terror will be spread over the course of twelve months and will be themed around a holiday that features in that month. First up is the Halloween set The Body starring Tom Bateman and Rebecca Rittenhouse. Next up, Dermot Mulroney stars in Flesh & Blood that has the backdrop of Thanksgiving.

A monthly release strategy in today’s binge watch culture might seem like a gamble, but it could be one that will pay off. On the flip side, I have a hard time remembering all the shows I’m currently watching, and I already know that they are there waiting. To flip the script once more, an anthology series that resets every episode is the perfect format for a monthly release as an hourlong tale of terror can be a good pallet cleanser between shows. Unless all you watch is twisted anthology shows, then I guess it’s just another day at the office.

America based horror fans can catch Into the Dark’s debut on Hulu on October 5, 2018. The second instalment (“Flesh & Blood”) arrives on November 2, 2018. As you know, Hulu isn’t available outside of the US, so we’ll keep you posted on where and when it lands in the UK.

In partnership with Blumhouse Television, Into The Dark is a horror event series from prolific, award-winning producer, Jason Blum’s independent TV studio. The series includes 12 super-sized episodes, with a new instalment released each month inspired by a holiday and will feature Blumhouse’s signature genre/thriller spin on the story.
