Mike Colter is back as the indestructible Luke Cage following his introduction last year on Jessica Jones’ first season. After Cage learned the shocking revelations about his wife’s death, he opted for a change of direction. Instead of watching his beloved neighbourhood fall to ruin, Cage follows in the footsteps of Jessica Jones and Daredevil to clean up the streets, one perp at a time.
The Netflix branch of the MCU is proving to be as impervious to negativity as Luke Cage is to bullets. The triple whammy of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and more Daredevil has set the bar high for the shows still to come. Next up in the Netflix/Marel is Iron Fist and the casting of Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) certainly ruffled a few feathers. After Iron Fist lands, the countdown begins for the event series team-up Defenders that brings all four heroes together for an epic battle for Hell’s Kitchen.
Also starring Alfre Woodard, Mahershala Ali, Simone Missick, Frank Whaley and Rosario Dawson will reprise her role from Daredevil/Jessica Jones for a recurring guest spot. The entire first season of Luke Cage will be available on Netflix from September 30th. Check out the brand new trailer below.
