The Coen Brothers are back with an all-star cast for their latest venture, Hail Caesar has all the makings of being another offbeat comedy, and this first trailer hits the spot.
Set in the golden era of Hollywood, Josh Brolin plays veteran studio fixer, Eddie Mannix, his daily duties revolve around keeping the plethora of movie stars in check. Eddie’s eventful job gets a more problematic when the star of the a major picture (George Clooney) gets kidnapped.
The Coen’s have been absent from our screens since Inside Llewyn Davis back in 2013 while they have kept busy with various projects, their return to motion pictures is a welcome sight. The first trailer for Hail Caesar is filled with musical numbers, a zany tone and scenery you just want to eat. To be blunt, I rarely need to be sold on a new Coen Brothers film, I simply need to know when I can see it.
Hail Caesar also features Ralph Fiennes, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Alden Ehrenreich, Dolph Lundgren (no, really), Christopher Lambert and Frances McDormand. The movie arrives in UK cinemas on February 26, so for now we’ll have to make do with the trailer.
Four-time Oscar®-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Fargo) write and direct HAIL, CAESAR!, an all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill and Frances McDormand, Hail, Caesar! follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix.
The comedy is produced by the Coen brothers under their Mike Zoss Productions banner alongside Working Title Films’ Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan.
