It was on this day in history that the fantastic Bela Lugosi was born. An icon of the silver screen he appeared in many horror films including White Zombie, The Black Cat, Son of Frankenstein and of course the 1931 classic Dracula. To celebrate, here is a lovingly made tribute video we found on youtube. Created by Jackbenny1924 the video has a wealth of rare pictures and is well worth a watch.
No mention of Lugosi can go without some classic clips from Ed Wood’s ultimate B Movie Plan 9 From Outer Space. This was Bela’ final performance, and unfortunately he died before the shoot was finished. This didn’t stop Wood from completing the filming with a man who looks a little like Bela… when he covers his face and you squint a bit.
