Fresh from Star Trek Beyond, Chris Pine comes back down to earth for a tense thriller that co-stars the legendary Jeff Bridges. Pine stars as Toby, having gone through a messy divorce he’s struggling to keep what family he has together. Along with his ex-con brother (Ben Foster), the two brothers go on a bank robbing spree and it’s not long before a veteran lawman (Jeff Bridges) is hot on their heels.
After a summer of big movies, the Autumn months ahead promises to deliver a more meaty selection of motion pictures that put character development before whizz bang special effects. Jeff Bridges is always watchable, even when he’s in a dreadful movie like RIPD he still gives it his all. Take notice Robert De Niro, Mr Bridges has yet to phone in a performance or make anything a rancid as Dirty Grandpa.
Directed by David Mackenzie (Starred Up), Hell or High Water is released in UK cinemas on September 9, check out the new trailer below.
Toby is a divorced father who’s trying to make a better life for his son. His brother Tanner is an ex-convict with a short temper and a loose trigger finger. Together, they plan a series of heists against the bank that’s about to foreclose on their family ranch. Standing in their way is Marcus, a Texas Ranger who’s only weeks away from retirement. As the siblings plot their final robbery, they must also prepare for a showdown with a crafty lawman who’s not ready to ride off into the sunset.
