Honest Trailer: Mad Max Fury Road

Those brave people at Screen Junkies are taking aim at the universally adored Mad Max: Fury Road for their latest Honest Trailer. To be fair, there’s not much in the way of negativity unless you count the comparisons to Mario Kart as offensive.

Like all Honest Trailers, the critique comes from a place of love and while the simplicity of the story falls under fire those Screen Junkies are clearly big fans of George Miller’s work. Call me jaded or call me crazy, but the last few Honest Trailers haven’t been up to scratch. The recent Kingsman offering sorely lacked the usual fizzle and failed to make this particular grumpy bastard smile.

Fury Road was without doubt one of my favourite movies of the year. A full throttle exercise in efficiency and lunacy that was a cinematic joy to behold. We could be in for a bit of a wait for the next Mad Max, George Miller is in talks to take on a DC project for Warner Bros but recent rumours suggest it won’t be Man of Steel 2.

Years after the collapse of civilization, the tyrannical Immortan Joe enslaves apocalypse survivors inside the desert fortress the Citadel. When the warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads the despot’s five wives in a daring escape, she forges an alliance with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a loner and former captive. Fortified in the massive, armored truck the War Rig, they try to outrun the ruthless warlord and his henchmen in a deadly high-speed chase through the Wasteland.
