Jessica Jones is just a month away from returning to our screens with the second season of the acclaimed Marvel/Netflix series set to land next month. The first trailer has arrived, which has Jessica Jones doing what she does best, kicking butts and taking names, and drinking.
I know I’m not alone in better utterly underwhelmed by last summer’s Netflix team-up The Defenders. What should have been an event on the calendar was a surprisingly dull affair with way too much screen time given to Iron Fist. One of the saving graces was Krysten Ritter’s performance bringing some much-needed humour to proceedings.
We’ve already seen set pictures of David Tennant reprising Kilgrave, but it remains unclear if the scenes are a flashback or perhaps merely a manifestation of his influence that only Jessica can see. That said, the purple lighting and an unseen person slow-clapping as Jessica enters the room does suggest that Kilgrave might be alive. I’m already more entertained with this trailer than I was for the entire eight episodes of The Defenders. Welcome back Ms Jones, it’s been too long.
On a side note, we might have to enjoy the Netflix/Marvel partnership while it lasts as Disney’s new streaming platform may see original Marvel shows disappear from Netflix. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but at least there are a few more shows to come, sadly, Iron Fist season 2 is amongst them.
All thirteen episodes of Jessica Jones season two will be available on Netflix on March 8. Check out the brand new poster below.
