Larry David’s Curb You Enthusiasm Returning for Ninth Season

Curb-Your-Enthusiasm 9

Good news, pretty pretty good news if you’re a fan of Larry David’s Curb You Enthusiasm as the multi-award winning series is coming back for a ninth season.

“In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.” – Larry David

For a long time it appeared as though David was done playing a heightened version of himself and always claimed each new season would be the last. A five year break seems to have got the little grey cells working and David will be back to cause more award-winning awkwardness.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, longtime Curb producer David Mandel sat down for lengthly chat about the surprising news.

“I’m thrilled that he decided to do it. Take out any of my involvement, I’m thrilled as a fan that there’s going to be more Curb Your Enthusiasm. We’ll get to see at least one new episode — he’s going to make somewhere between one and 10 episodes, so I’m really excited about that.”

Mandel also spoke about how arranging schedules for cast and crew is going to take a little while to get ready.

“I would assume he sort of reached out to everybody. And again, him saying he’s ready, that means he’s going to start writing. They’re not ready for production tomorrow. So I’m sure there will be a lot to figure out. Jeff [Garlin]’s schedule, Susie [Essman]’s schedule, J.B.’s schedule, Larry’s schedule, and besides people like myself who have gone onto other things, a lot of his favorite crew people are probably working on other things and I’m sure it will become a little bit of, how can the people who want to work on the show figure out how to work on the show? That will be a little bit of a thing. So, I don’t think it will be tomorrow.”

Since Curb went on hiatus five years ago, Mandel is now working on Veep which might prohibit him from being as involved in Curb as he would like.

“I’ve made it clear, Larry knows what my day job is. He’s part of the reason I have the job that I have, so I will try everything I can to help but, one way or another, we’re going to start shooting Veep by the start of October. That’s my chief concern.”

The key take home here is that Curb is returning and that can only be a good thing, welcome back Larry, we missed you.
