A second trailer swoops in for Solo: A Star Wars Story
There are just a few weeks to go before a new Star Wars anthology movie hits cinemas, and I don’t know about you, but I’m not getting that special tingly feeling yet. The Last Jedi just arrived on Home Entertainment, and at the risk of sounding spoiled, I’m not ready for another Star Wars movie yet, standalone or otherwise.
Given the highly publicised troubled production that saw directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller being replaced by Ron Howard, it remains unclear why Disney didn’t opt to push Solo to a favourable Christmas release. Anyhoo, the first teaser for Solo: A Star Wars Story didn’t do much to quell the concerns that the movie was potentially in trouble. Rogue One had similar production complexities with drastic reshoots with a different director (granted not to this degree as Howard reshot everything Lord & Miller filmed), and that turned out pretty well.
This latest trailer has Alden Ehrenreich bringing the swagger as the young incarnation of Han, but Donald Glover steals the limelight as Lando Calrissian. The campaign for a Lando solo (pun intended) movie starts here. While this is a more satisfying trailer than the first one, I feel like I should be more excited about Solo than I currently am.
Also starring Emilia Clarke, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, and a contractually obligated cameo from Clint Howard, Solo: A Star Wars Story is released in the UK on May 24.
