The first trailer for Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers has arrived, and if you like a starstudded mystery then you are in for a treat. Based on the book by Liane Moriarty, this marks the second time Nicole Kidman has starred in a series from Moriarty after the massively successful Big Little Lies. Kidman leads the cast as Masha, the owner of a very fancy wellness resort (Tranquillum House), as she welcomes her nine new guests all seeking treatment.
The short promo-only gives us a hint at the mystery and bizarre goings-on at the resort, but we do get a glimpse of the star studded limited series. Melissa McCarthy (Francis), Luke Evans (Lars), Regina Hall (Carmel), Bobby Cannavale (Tony), Grace Van Patten (Zoe), Asher Keddie (Heather), Michael Shannon (Napoleon), Samara Weaving (Jessica), and Melvin Gregg (Ben).
Kidman’s recent choice of high-quality TV has seen some of her best work with last year’s The Undoing, and Nine Perfect Strangers looks set to see her tap into something truly creepy. I’ve not read the book, so I haven’t got a clue what’s going on here and can’t wait to find out. For a taste of what to expect beyond the teaser, here’s the synopsis for the series;
“Based on The New York Times bestselling book by author Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this ten-day retreat is the resort’s director Masha (Nicole Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine “perfect” strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.”
There is currently to broadcast date for the series, but Nine Perfect Strangers will be coming to UK fans via Disney+ on their Star Channel. Check out the trailer below.
