Cult of Chucky Trailer

Everybody’s favourite murderous Good Guy Doll is back for another bout of bloody mayhem. Following on from the previous instalment The Curse of Chucky, The Cult of Chucky brings back the original Andy (Alex Vincent), Fiona Dourif as the wrongfully incarcerated Nica Pierce, and Chucky’s now human girlfriend Tiffany played by Jennifer Tilly. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Child’s Play movie without the legendary Brad Dourif voicing Chucky.

Much like the previous straight to DVD sequel, Cult is bringing the horror back to the franchise after the more comically Bride and Seed of Chucky. I’m glad that director/writer Don Mancini is reminding audiences that Chucky is no joke and Cult looks like it is dialing the horror up to 11. Next year will mark the 30th Anniversary of the first Child’s Play film, so don’t be surprised if there will be the pitter patter of another Chucky sequel announced sooner rather than later.

The Cult of Chucky will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and download just in time for Halloween. Check out the first trailer below.

Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.
