Chirs Hemsworth Would Be Up For Making Dundee Movie For Real

Just in case you didn’t know, that Crocodile Dundee reboot starring Danny McBride and Chris Hemsworth fooled a few people by tricking them into believing it was a real movie. Featuring the likes of Russell Crowe, Margot Robbie, Hugh Jackman, and the original Dundee Paul Hogan, the promo was in fact for the Australian Tourist Board.

However, the response to the faux movie trailer has sparked rumours that a real film might be made, and Hemsworth is ready to sign up. Speaking to the BBC, Chris Hemsworth revealed that he spoke to McBride about the possibility of turning the project into a fully-fledged motion picture.

“If we could find the right story and script we might do it. While shooting, Danny McBride and I spoke about if it could be a movie. We started to get worried that if this commercial is as good as we hoped it’s going to be, people are going to be disappointed, we’re going to have to make a movie. But I had so much fun making this commercial, I’d definitely be open to discussions about it.”

I thought the casting of Hemsworth as the son of original Dundee’s hapless yet lovable best friend Walter was a pretty inspired choice. Hemsworth played his brief scenes with wide-eyed wonder, and the partnership with McBride seemed like a great fit. I think it was a little too transparent from the off that Dundee wasn’t arriving in cinemas summer 2018, but we may yet get a real movie out of this well-played commercial.

The recent Thor Raganorak made great use of Hemsworth underutilised comedic skills, and despite not being great movies, Hemsworth stretched his comedy legs in Vacation and the Ghostbusters reboot. Chris Hemsworth can currently be seen in 12 Strong, and he’ll be uniting with his fellow Avengers for Infinity War on April 27.
