Those pesky Sand Dragons are back to wreak more havoc in an all-new straight to DVD adventure. Burt Gummer returns once more to do battle with the Graboids in Tremors 6: A Cold Day In Hell.

Relocating the action from the usual sandy locations, as the title suggests, this instalment of the franchise is set in a decidedly colder climate. The first trailer for the new movie has hit the internet which you can watch above.

Jamie Kennedy returns as Burt’s estranged son Travis, and things go boom a whole lot. By now, you should know what to expect from a Tremors sequel, and if you’ve stuck with the franchise, that’s either a good or a bad thing.

Tremors fans are in for a bumper year, Kevin Bacon is starring in a new Amazon series that is described as a direct continuation of the first movie. The pilot episode was completed late last year, and it is expected to drop in the Spring as part of Amazon’s upcoming pilot season. I think it’s safe to assume the exploits of Burt Gummer won’t be considered canon, so we shouldn’t expect Michael Gross to pop up for a tasteful cameo.

Tremors: A Cold Day In Hell is released on DVD on May 1.

Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) and his son Travis Welker (Jamie Kennedy) find themselves up to their ears in Graboids and Ass-Blasters when they head to Canada to investigate a series of deadly giant-worm attacks. Arriving at a remote research facility in the artic tundra, Burt begins to suspect that Graboids are secretly being weaponized, but before he can prove his theory, he is sidelined by Graboid venom. With just 48 hours to live, the only hope is to create an antidote from fresh venom — but to do that, someone will have to figure out how to milk a Graboid!”
