Untethered Geek Army of the Dead

Untethered Geek’s Army of the Dead Video Review (Spoilers)

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead is now streaming on Netflix, and hot on the heels of the Snyder Cut of Justice League, you’d be forgiven for being a tad Snydered out. That said, Army of the Dead is his first project for Netflix, and with a prequel movie (Army of Thieves) and an animated series (Lost Vegas) coming later this year, Army of the Dead is a franchise regardless.

Joining the many YouTubers howling into the abyss that is the internet, our very own Untethered Geek has shared his thoughts on Army of the Dead, The Snyder Cut, and quite possibly random facts about an obscure TV show released 25 years ago that nobody remembers. You never can tell with The Untethered Geek; he’s managed to sneak in a brief history of the Highlander franchise into what was meant to be a short news piece about the new Henry Cavill led reboot.

While film as a medium is subjective, and I am guilty of liking some flat out terrible movies, this is not a great film. Army of the Dead has plenty of style, carnage, and Dave Bautista, but the finished film is a bloated jumble of ideas that rarely pay off. You have to hand it to Snyder for turning what could have been a fun under 2-hour romp, into two and a half hours of pure Snyder that doesn’t have the story to carry it. Now, if you’re a fan of his work, then everything you love about his films is here in spades. That said, his first foray into the zombie genre with his remake of Dawn of the Dead is still superior.

Naturally, there will be spoilers for Army of the Dead in the video below, so consider yourself officially warned. Army of the Dead is now streaming on Netflix.
