The first trailer for Tim Burton’s adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children has arrived. After narrowly missing out on being cast as the new Spider-Man, bright young thing Asa Butterfield stars as Jacob, an outsider who solves a mystery that leads him to discover Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) and her School For Gifted Youngsters home for peculiar children.
After the big budget excesses of Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton has been putting his talents to better use with the more personal projects like Frankenweenie and Big Eyes. While those films might have been smaller they retained that Burtonesque vibe and felt like he had got his mojo back as a filmmaker. This first trailer does look like a mixture of Harry Potter and X-Men, but with a playfully dark undertone.
Also starring Chris O’Dowd, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Terence Stamp, with Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will open its door on September 30th.
