Seth Rogen leads the voice cast in an animated movie with a difference, after eight years in development Sausage Party might look like a glossy Pixar offering, but it’s a potty mouthed R-rated comedy not for the kiddies.
The first trailer has arrived and I’m still struggling to put into words what I’ve seen. Written by Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Kyle Hunter, Sausage Party is exactly what you would expect from their bawdy sense of humour. The project has been a long time in the works, the idea was born out of a conversation between Rogen and Goldberg about why there are no CG animated movies aimed at adults. As I’m sure the duo discovered during the course of production, CG animated movies can be very expensive, but R-Rated comedies continue to be popular so why not try something different.
Directed by Greg Tiernan (Thomas The Tank Engine) and Conrad Vernon (Shrek), the voice cast features the likes of Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, James Franco, Nick Kroll, Paul Rudd, and Edward Norton.
Sausage Party will be served in UK cinemas on August 12.
