Three years on from the conclusion of Eastbound & Down, series creators Jody Hill and Danny McBride have reunited for a new HBO comedy series. Vice Principals centres on the escalating feud between Danny McBride and Walton Goggins’ at odds educators.

The first trailer has arrived and it is everything you’d expect from the duo that gave the world Kenny Powers. The combination of Goggins and McBride is surprisingly effective, Goggins is always watchable and darn near stole the show in The Hateful Eight. The premise might be slim, but much like Eastbound & Down the comedy comes from its well drawn characters and a fearless tone. The first trailer is a little light on the laughs, there’s a good few chuckles in there, but I’m guessing they’re saving the good stuff for later. 

The pitch for Vice Principals clearly got an A+ from HBO as the series was picked up for 18 episodes that will be spread over two nine episode seasons. The bad news is that there’s no fixed UK broadcast date yet, but US fans can enjoy the show this July.
