After our first glimpse of Duncan Jones’ adaptation of World of Warcraft, the first full trailer has finally arrived.
Full disclosure I have never played World of Warcraft, I’m well aware of the franchise yet I have never been tempted to give it a go. My fear of Warcraft is mostly down to the fact I know I would spend countless hours playing it, that episode of South Park freaked me the feck out. That said, my naivety towards World of Warcraft hasn’t stopped me being very interested in the movie adaptation thanks to director Duncan Jones.
No shortage of spectacle populates the glossy promo, but there is an abundance of CGI landscapes and characters that make it difficult to be fully immersed in. There is still a long way to go before the movie launches in cinemas, so for now I will put my scepticism on the back burner until the film is released.
The prequel to Shrek Warcraft: The Beginning is released in the UK on June 3, 2016.
The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.
So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.
Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and written by Charles Leavitt and Jones, the film starring Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky and Daniel Wu is a Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production.
