Tremors Amazon Series 2017

You might have forgotten that Kevin Bacon is involved in a TV series revival of 90s cult classic Tremors. Well, the project is alive and well with Bacon set to reprise his role as Val McKee. Speaking to Collider, Bacon revealed that Tremors is moving forward at Amazon and will be a direct sequel to the original movie.

“We’re at Amazon. We’re still waiting for a draft, but I’m 100% on board with that.”

Michael Gross carried the franchise for a series of direct to DVD sequels and the ill-advised 2003 TV spin-off. The hapless gun-love Burt might be sitting out the revival series as Bacon wants to ignore the sequels.

“They went and made a bunch of sequels to the movie. I want to put those aside because, first of all, I wasn’t in them. But what I was really interested in was taking this guy and, 25 years later, seeing what happened to him, to his dreams, and to his life. Andrew Miller, who’s writing the script, came up with this really, really interesting take on it, and I think it could be a lot of fun.”

After Bacon’s first foray into TV (The Following) came to an end after three seasons, the EE Ad star has been looking for another TV project. Bacon is the star of a new Amazon pilot called I Love Dick. There is currently no commitment for a full series order, but should Amazon pick the show up, it could cause a delay for Tremors.

At the time of writing, there is currently no fixed launch date for the new series, so you’ll have to make do with Tremors 5: Bloodlines in the meantime.
