After a haunting teaser hit the internet a few weeks ago, the first full trailer for Matt Reeves’ eagerly awaited follow-up to 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has arrived.
War For The Planet Of The Apes picks up a few years after the events of the previous film, Ape leader Caesar (Andy Serkis) is facing an increasingly bleak future as a new human threat is lurking on the horizon. Woody Harrelson stars as Connel, the ruthless leader of the human armies who is preparing for a last stand against Caesar ape forces.
If you were to tell me back in 2011 that the rebooted Apes franchise would rank amongst my favourite films of all time, I would call you crazy. But that is exactly what has transpired as both Rise and Dawn are not only beautifully made and a visual feast, they are also filled with heart and depth. These traits aren’t always found in mega-budget filmmaking as the bigger the budget, the more executives meddle with the recipe. Yes, I’m looking at you Dawn of Justice and you Fantastic Four reboot.
Also starring Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, and Judy Greer, War For The Planet of the Apes is released in cinemas July, 2017. Check out the goosebump inducing trailer below.
In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
