Would you like fries with that?
Following his Academy Award nomination for Birdman and his acclaimed performance in Spotlight, Michael Keaton returns to our screens next month in John Lee Hancock’s The Founder.
In the incredible true story of the formation of McDonald’s, Keaton stars as Ray Kroc, a charismatic salesman who used his ambitious entrepreneurial skills to transform a small town fast food restaurant owned by two brothers into a billion dollar industry.
At first glance, a biopic about McDonald’s might not sound hugely entertaining, but you’d be wrong in that assumption. Thanks to a dynamic turn from Michael Keaton, a sharp script from Robert D. Siegel (The Wrestler) with director John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr Banks) at the helm, The Founder looks set to be a happy meal of a movie.
Also starring Nick Offerman (Fargo, 21 Jump Street), John Carroll Lynch (The Invitation, Ted 2), Linda Cardellini (Mad Men), B.J Novak (Inglourious Basterds) and Laura Dern (99 Homes, Jurassic Park). The Founder is released in UK cinemas on February 10th, check out the brand new trailer below.
The Founder is a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc (Keaton), a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers’ speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire.
