The second trailer for Matt Reeves’ War For The Planet of the Apes has landed, and prepare to have your breath taken away.
Andy Serkis returns as ape leader Caesar in the third chapter of the blockbuster franchise that has the brains to match its inspiring special effects. After the events of the previous movie, Caeser is forced to defend his species from an imposing human army led by a ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson).
Based on the new footage in this latest trailer, there are deep divisions on both sides with apes defecting to the human side, and humans seeking a way to coexist.
Proving that ‘reboot’ doesn’t have to be a dirty word, the level of care and passion that poured into Rise of the Planet of the Apes back in 2011 set it apart from other remakes and reboots. Aided by a genuinely heartfelt performance from Andy Serkis (and let’s not forget John Lithgow), Rupert Wyatt’s film was a bold and intelligent piece of filmmaking.
Matt Reeves (Let Me In) took over for Dawn, and delivered an epic follow-up that is easily up there with Terminator 2, Aliens and The Dark Knight as sequels that surpassed their respective originals. Reeves is back at the helm for War, and Serkis is joined by Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Terry Notary and Woody Harrelson.
War For The Planet of the Apes is released in UK cinemas on July 14, check out the new trailer below.
