A brand new trailer for Kenneth Branagh’s lavish adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express has arrived.
Kenneth Branagh directs and leads the cast as Hercule Poirot, and the new trailer gives us a much better look at the all-star cast. As regular readers will know, I love a good murder mystery and am continually baffled by the lack of it in our cinemas. A film squarely aimed at an older market feels like a rarity these days as every studio is looking to capture the youth market with franchises and glossy offerings.
The last time Murder on the Orient Express was adapted for the big screen was back in 1974 from acclaimed filmmaker Sidney Lumet. Albert Finney bagged himself an Academy Award nomination for his performance as Poirot, out of its six nominations, the film’s only win was Ingrid Bergman’s Best Supporting Actress Oscar. So no pressure on Kenny B to garner some nominations for his adaptation.
Produced by Ridley Scott and also starring Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer and Daisy Ridley. Murder on the Orient Express is released on November 10.
What starts out as a lavish train ride through Europe quickly unfolds into one of the most stylish, suspenseful and thrilling mysteries ever told. From the novel by best selling author Agatha Christie, “Murder on the Orient Express” tells the tale of thirteen strangers stranded on a train, where everyone’s a suspect. One man must race against time to solve the puzzle before the murderer strikes again.
