After 16 years trying to get a third Bad Boys movie into cinemas, you could have been forgiven for thinking it was never going to happen. Michael Bay had his hands full running the Transformers into the ground, Will Smith was busy being a massive movie star, and Martin Lawrence had stuff to do like Big Momma’s House 3.
Various directors were attached over the years with A-Team director Joe Carnahan getting pretty close a few years ago. Joe Carnahan got as far as announcing two Bad Boys sequels with back-to-back filming, but he left the project before anything serious happened. So, Bad Boys 3 seemed like a dream that would never come to pass, much like Bill & Ted 3 it became a myth.
However, Bad Boys 3 has been filmed, Bill & Ted 3 finished production, and maybe Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote will finally see the light of day. Next, you’ll be telling me that Keanu Reeves is starring in a fourth Matrix movie.
Directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Will Smith, with an all-star cast including Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez, Kate Del Castillo, Nicky Jam, and Joe Pantoliano. BAD BOYS FOR LIFE will open at cinemas across UK and Ireland 17 January 2020. The first trailer has landed and while the Bad Boys are throwing around The Fast & Furious old chestnut of “one last time” (F&F has used that at least three times), we should expect Bad Boys 4 sometime in 2036. They’ve missed a trick here, call this one Bad Boys 3, then part four can be called Bad Boys 4 Life. The first season of Bad Boys spin-off series L.A’s Finest is available to watch on Now TV or Sky.
