Bruce Campbell might have hung up the boomstick as Ash Williams for the big and small screen, but he returns to voice his iconic character in the new Evil Dead Game. A new trailer for the forthcoming multi-platform release just landed, and we get our first look at the gameplay with some classy narration from Mr Bruce Campbell himself.
I’ve played a few of the games in the Evil Dead franchise (A FistFul of Boomstick still holds up) and enjoyed them all. However, this new take looks very impressive, and the gameplay looks wonderfully gory. The game will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/s, and Microsoft Windows. Ash Williams is just one of several playable characters from the Evil Dead franchise, although I don’t know how anybody could resist being Ashy Slashy and using the iconic chainsaw. At the time of writing, there is no fixed release date for the game, but with any luck, it will be just in time for Halloween.
Ash vs Evil Dead might be no more, but The Evil Dead will rise again, on HBO Max in the suitably titled new movie, Evil Dead Rise. Campbell will produce alongside Sam Raimi, who had this to say about the new film.
“I’m thrilled to bring Evil Dead back to its original home at New Line 40 years after the release of the first film. The company’s history as pioneers of horror speaks for itself. I’m equally excited to be working with Lee Cronin, whose gifts as a storyteller make him the ideal filmmaker to continue the enduring legacy of the franchise.”
Evil Dead Rise will arrive on HBO Max sometime in 2022, check out the trailer for the game below.
