Castle Rock Renewed For Second Season

Hulu’s mystery thriller Castle Rock will return for a second season of Stephen King based shenanigans. The anthology series that brings together elements of King’s work in what sounds like a gripping series. Castle Rock has yet to find a home outside of the US as Hulu isn’t available, fellow Hulu breakout The Handmaid’s Tale was shown on Channel 4 in the UK, but there’s still no confirmation on when we can catch it.

The second season will stay true to the anthology format and an entirely fresh cast is expected to be brought in for next year’s run of episodes. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, co-showrunner Dustin Thomason gave a few teasers for season two;

“Each season is going to be its own self-contained story: beginning, middle and end,told. But I think that just as the books do, we want to surprise viewers with the ways in which the stories intersect. Just as the places the characters pop up in very unexpected ways throughout the books, that’s the kind of anthology that we would like to tell. One of the things about the King universe or multiverse is that some very strange things can happen when it comes to the ways that the stories unfold, and hopefully there’ll be surprises along the way in terms of how the anthology works in that way. It’s pretty delicious that Kathy Bates played both Dolores Claiborne and Annie Wilkes when you really think about that question in the movie adaptations. But I think that there’s something for us about being faithful to the way that Steve does it in the books, that almost feels like the anthology format has already been laid out for us.”

Starring André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Bill Skarsgård, Jane Levy, Sissy Spacek, with Terry O’Quinn, and Frances Conroy. Castle Rock airs weekly on Hulu, as soon as we hear details on the UK broadcast we’ll be sure to let you know.
