A brand new trailer for Atomic Blonde has been released, and Charlize Theron’s MI6 Agent Lorraine Wallace gives John Wick a run for his money in the kill everybody department.
Atomic Blonde marks the first solo directorial effort from John Wick co-director David Leitch, and you’ll be pleased to know that the latest trailer doesn’t disappoint. Set in 1989 on the eve of the collapse of the Berlin Wall, Agent Wallace is tasked to investigate the murder of a fellow agent who was in possession of classified information. Forced to forge an alliance with station chief David Percival (James McAvoy), the fate of the western world now rests in their deadly hands.
The first trailer was an impressive ballet of fast paced action and slick fight scenes, the second promo ups the ante and gives us a real taste of Theron’s commitment to the role. What’s also clear is the devotion from David Leitch to use practical effects over CGI wherever possible. The old school approach to both chapters of John Wick is part of what made it feel refreshing. Quite how that will translate to David Leitch’s next movie (Deadpool 2), but I can’t wait to find out.
Also starring John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella, Bill Skarsgård, and Toby Jones, Atomic Blonde is unleashed in UK cinemas on August 11. Check out the brand new trailer below.
