After a couple of false starts and one near-fatal heart attack, the legend that is Kevin Smith finally returns to close out his Clerks trilogy with the long-awaited third chapter. Drawing inspiration from his own life once again, Clerks 3 finds the now middle-aged Dante and Randal still working at the Quick Stop, but after Randal suffers a massive heart attack, he gathers his old friends (including Jay and Silent Bob) to help make a low-budget indie movie about working at the Quick Stop.

Perhaps the most meta-project of Smith’s career, Clerks 3 is filled with cameos from some of Smith’s nearest and dearest, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Justin Long, and Ben Affleck. From his debut to his podcast empire, I’ve been a life-long fan of Kevin Smith, with a particular shout-out to Red State and Tusk; the latter still haunts my nightmares. Long story short, I’m always interested in what Smith is up to, and after the last couple of years, checking back in with our old chums at the Quick Stop seems like a good idea.

Starring Brian O’Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Trevor Fehrman, Austin Zajur, Jason Mewes, Rosario Dawson and Kevin Smith, Clerks 3 arrives in UK cinemas on September 16. Check out the latest trailer below.

Following a massive heart attack, Randal enlists his friends and fellow clerks Dante, Elias, Jay, and Silent Bob to make a movie immortalizing his life at the convenience store that started it all.
