“It’s impossible, I hate it, it’s evil, it’s astonishing… I want to kiss it to death!’
Following the moody images we saw last week, the first teaser trailer for the ninth series of Doctor Who has arrived and it’s freaking off the chain!
Peter Capaldi returns for his second run as the Time Lord, after a bumpy first series that (in my opinion) didn’t fully live-up to expectations, the forthcoming batch of episodes look epically demented. Capaldi leans into the mad scientist get-up even more and has a crazed hairdo to match.
Joining The Doctor on another set of adventures in space and time is Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman), Michelle Gomez will be back to cause more mischief as the regenerated Master (Missy). Guest stars this year include Rebecca Front, Paul Kaye, Jemma Redgrave will return as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart with Ingrid Oliver resurrected as Osgood (or at least the Zygon version). There’s also the small matter of Game of Throne actress Maisie Williams’ highly mysterious role, we get a hint of who she might be right at the end of this very trailer.
The new series will contain four two-part stories, after a very singular ‘of the week’ previous series a batch of connected episodes will be a welcome change of pace.
Doctor Who returns to BBC on September 19.
