Chris Hemsworth is back as the implausibly still alive (and named) Tyler Rake in the first trailer for Extraction 2. The first movie landed on Netflix in 2020, and despite meeting his apparent end during the climactic shoot-out, Rake’s return was teased during the closing moments of the film.

Written and produced by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, the bulk of this first trailer focuses on what appears to be a primarily single shot of a prison riot. Hemsworth’s Rake is in the thick of the action taking a brick to the head before being mildly on fire. The first film was a brutal R-rated actioner featuring impressive fight choreography and action sequences. One part John Wick and one part Man on Fire (Man Wick? John on Fire? Fire Wick?), Extraction may have had a plot straight from the Action Movie Playbook, but the execution was suitably entertaining. Once again directed by stunt coordinator turned director Sam Hargrave, Extraction 2 will be released on Netflix on June 16, check out the trailer below.

Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake in “Extraction 2,” the sequel to Netflix’s blockbuster action film “Extraction.” After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
