We're making a few changes...sorry for the inconvience.

At this stage, there is less than a day between you and the ability to binge watch The Defenders, but irrespective of that fact, the final trailer for the superhero team-up has arrived.

After a solid start to the Netflix arm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Daredevil and Jessica Jones, the two following solo shows were a bit more of a mixed bag. Luke Cage was successfully introduced as a recurring character on Jessica Jones, and while Mike Colter has bags of natural charisma, Luke Cage was more of a slow burn than the previous two shows. On balance, the first season of Luke Cage could have benefited from being a couple of episodes shorter (and fewer baddies), but the series ended strong and will return for a second season.

The final character to be introduced pre-Defenders was Iron Fist, and good Joss above that series was a difficult watch. Sloppy pacing, uninspired fight sequences, and a frustratingly stilted performance from Finn Jones in the title role. Hopefully, the problems with the first season have been worked out for Defenders and the already confirmed second season of Iron Fist.

As a bonus, we get a third Marvel series of Netflix this year, having made quite the impression on the second season of Daredevil, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher has got a solo series due to launch in November. All eight episodes of The Defenders will be available worldwide on Netflix on August 18 (tomorrow). Oh snap, I just remembered I still have two episodes of Iron Fist to watch…

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones), a quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
