First Trailer For Jordan Peele’s Us

Get Out mastermind Jordan Peele unleashed a special Christmas present earlier this week with the release of the first trailer for his highly-anticipated Us. Starting as a typical home invasion thriller, the Wilson family are getting away from the stresses of city life with a break at their family beach house. Their peaceful getaway comes to a screeching halt when a group of masked strangers arrive with murderous intent.

So far, it seems like a run of the mill thriller we’ve seen plenty of times. However, Peele has something more twisted up his sleeve, and things take a sinister turn midway through the trailer. Using a haunting version of Luniz’ ‘I Got 5 On It’, Us offers a disturbing first look at Jordan Peele’s secretive new project. If you want to remain completely oblivious, don’t watch the trailer (although if this is what’s in the first promo, I’m guessing there is way more to it).

Still with us, great. Who saw that coming, the identity of the masked assailants is none other than copies of the Wilson family! Whaaaaaaat???!! Throw in lots and lots of bunnies (look away Ayna), and I’m not sure what the heck is going on, but all I know is that Us is already one of the most anticipated horrors of 2019. Once again produced by Jason Blum, expectations are high for Us to make the same social (and box office) impact that Get Out enjoyed last year. Hopefully, they’ll be no second trailer as there is more than enough information here to get audiences excited, very excited.

Starring Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Anna Diop, Us is released in cinemas on March 15.
