Hammer’s Blood From The Mummy’s Tomb Makes 4K Debut

Coming Soon

One of Hammer’s most striking and unusual horrors returns in glorious form as BLOOD FROM THE MUMMY’S TOMB makes its worldwide 4K UHD debut on April 6 alongside fellow Hammer classic Demons of the Mind, presented in a stunning new 4K Dolby Vision restoration that brings its eerie imagery and lavish design vividly back to life.

Based on a novel by Bram Stoker, and directed by Seth Holt (Taste of Fear), this 1971 Hammer production occupies a fascinating space within the studio’s canon — darker, stranger and more unsettling than many of its contemporaries. Scripted by Christopher Wicking (also responsible for Demons of the Mind, STUDIOCANAL’s other Hammer release this April), the film is elevated by the sumptuous cinematography of Arthur Grant (Demons of the MindFear in the Night) and the distinctive production design of Scott MacGregor (Vampire Circus), resulting in a film that is as visually hypnotic as it is macabre.

This Collector’s Edition is a fitting tribute to one of Hammer’s most atmospheric creations. The set includes 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs, striking new artwork by Johnny Dombrowskitwo posters, and a 64-page perfect-bound bookletfeaturing newly commissioned essays, the original press kit and a wealth of archival material, alongside an extensive selection of extras.

The cast brings considerable weight and presence to the film, with Andrew Keir stepping in following Peter Cushing’s withdrawal from the production, joined by James Villiers (Asylum) and a standout dual performance from Valerie Leon(Carry On Matron). Memorable set-pieces, moments of genuine grotesquerie and an evocative score by Tristram Cary(Quatermass and the Pit) ensure the film remains a richly entertaining entry in Hammer’s Mummy cycle.

Critics have long recognised its significance. Starburst hailed it as a “satisfying addition to the Mummy series of films,” while Hammer authority David Huckvale described it as “without doubt Hammer’s most fascinating ancient Egyptian horror film.” This new 4K release goes further still, featuring brand-new extras exploring the film’s famously troubled production, offering valuable insight into a project shaped as much by adversity as ambition.

Lavish, unsettling and endlessly rewatchable, BLOOD FROM THE MUMMY’S TOMB stands as one of Hammer’s most distinctive achievements — and this definitive new edition is an essential addition for Hammer devotees and classic horror aficionados alike.
