The first trailer for A24’s new horror thriller showcases Hugh Grant’s dark side.
Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (co-writers of A Quiet Place) follow last year’s Sci-fi actioner 65 with a super creepy horror thriller featuring another unexpected performance from Hugh Grant. Heretic finds two Mormon missionaries (Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East) going door to door; when they first knock on Mr Reed’s (Grant) door, they think he’s a nice, kindly man. However, it soon turns out he’s far more dangerous than they could have anticipated.
Hugh Grant may have dubbed this period of his career “the freakshow era”, but the once floppy-haired rom-com Lord has matured into a risk-taking actor who looks like he’s having the time of his life. The Gentlemen, Paddington 2, Dungeons and Dragons, Wonka, his cameo in Glass Onion, Operation Fortune, and playing Tony The Tiger in Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted are just some of the highlights of Grant’s recent CV. Now he’s adding another villain role to that impressive list, but it’s not the family-friendly version this time; it’s A24.
Heretic will be released later this year; check out the trailer below.
