It has been a long time since a horror movie that offered a fresh perspective on the slasher genre. So, it was with genuine surprise that Chris Nash’s seriously grizzly new horror, In A Violent Nature, served up a shockingly brutal original slasher. A sequel is already in development, so this is officially the origin point of a new horror franchise.
The bold new horror introduced the masked and murderous Johnny, who’ll stop at nothing to retrieve a precious locket. Nash has fashioned something truly extraordinary – a film that manages to be brilliantly original while at the same time paying homage to ‘80s horror classics like the Friday the 13th series and Evil Dead, as a group of young campers are mercilessly stalked in the woods. Told from the point of view of the killer, it features some astoundingly orchestrated and intensely gory kills that have to be seen to be believed.
In A Violent Nature is available now on Digital and arrives on DVD & Blu-ray on September 30th.
When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.
