We're making a few changes...sorry for the inconvience.

Inferno

The first full trailer for Inferno has arrived and depending on you enjoyment of The Da Vinci Code or Angels and Demons, then prepare for more of the same stuff you nearly liked, AGAIN.

I like Ron Howard movies, aside from the odd dud like Vince Vaughn and Kevin James ‘comedy’ The Dilemma, Howard is a skilled filmmaker and a safe pair of hands. Howard might have gone a few years without a box office blockbuster, but his James Hunt biopic Rush, Frost/Nixon and In The Heart of the Sea still show a gutsy director willing to take chances.

I like Tom Hanks, who doesn’t right? An likeable leading man who can balance comedy and drama better than any other actor of his generation. I enjoyed the first Hanks/Howard team-up, Splash is a perfectly enjoyable 80s comedy and their second collaboration Apollo 13 was superb. So, all the signs were there that I should like their ‘thinking man’s Indiana Jones’ franchise based on the bestsellers by Dan Brown. Sadly, that’s not the case.

The Da Vinci Code bore none of the hallmarks of a Ron Howard film, it didn’t help that the script was  saddled with a script so heavy with exposition even Michael Bay proclaim it a bit much. Anyhoo, Tom Hanks is always watchable and the first trailer suggests that Howard & co have given up trying to make this franchise a serious ‘real-world’ thriller.

Inferno is released in the UK on October 14, check out the trailer below.

Academy Award® winner Ron Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown’s (Da Vinci Code) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series, Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to stop a madman from unleashing a global virus that would wipe out half of the world’s population.
